CCCC-Tianjin Port Engineering Institute, Co. Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as TPEI), founded in 1959, is a wholly-owned subsidiary of CCCC First Harbor Engineering Company Ltd., and is the key scientific research institute under the "China Communications Construction Company", one of the world's top 500 enterprises. As one of the earliest scientific research institutes established in New China, TPEI has developed into a comprehensive research institute integrating scientific research, survey, design, monitoring, testing, evaluation, consulting and construction, adhering to the industry-leading, domestic first-class and internationally renowned enterprise vision.

TPEI has been recognized as a national enterprise technology center (main body) and a high-tech enterprise, has been certified by Lloyd's quality management system in 1998, and has the Grade-B qualification in ”geotechnical engineering of engineering survey professional qualification” and the qualification of anticorrosion design and construction. Tianjin Port Engineering Quality Testing Center Co., Ltd. is a wholly-owned subsidiary of TPEI, has obtained the qualifications of "China Inspection Body and Laboratory Mandatory Approval" (CMA), "China National Accreditation Service for Conformity Assessment " (CNAS), "Class A in Materials for Port and Waterway Engineering" and "Class A in Structures for Port and Waterway Engineering" granted by the Ministry of Communications, and “Qualification Certificate of Construction Quality Inspection Institution” granted by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.

TPEI has several scientific research platforms, such as "Key Laboratory of Port Geotechnical Engineering Technology，Ministry of Communications, PRC", " Key Laboratory of Port Geotechnical Engineering of Tianjin", " Key Laboratory of Geotechnical Engineering, CCCC" and "Key Laboratory of Coastal Engineering Hydrodynamics, CCCC", and is one of the co-construction partners of " National Engineering Laboratory of Port Hydraulic Construction Technology", "Engineering Research Center of Ministry of Education for Land Reclamation and Soft Soil Engineering" and "Key Laboratory of Underwater Tunnel Construction and Maintenance Technology of Tianjin".

TPEI has set up the postdoctoral research workstation, and carried out the post-doctoral joint training and scientific research cooperation with Tsinghua University, Tianjin University, Hohai University, Dalian University of Technology, Tianjin Chengjian University and other universities. TPEI edits and publishes the National Core Chinese Periodical "China Harbour Engineering" and the CCCC-FHEC internal periodical "North China Transport Engineering" to the public at home and abroad.

Business footprint of TPEI has been spread all over the country, and TPEI has entered into more than 10 countries and regions in Asia, Africa and South America. TPEI has made important contributions to the construction of ports, docks, highways, railways, bridges, tunnels, metros, airports, water conservancy, nuclear power, wind power, cross-sea channels and other domestic and foreign engineering fields.
